The Summer FLAS fellowships are intended to help students gain the equivalent of a year's worth of college-level language study. Note: FLAS fellows may travel to any country that the State Department has listed as Level 1 or 2. Level 3 countries will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Each year the Endowment offers 8-10 one-year fellowships to qualified graduating seniors and individuals who have graduated during the past academic year. Carnegie Junior Fellows work as research assistants to the Endowment's senior associates. The Endowment's nomination deadline is January 15 of each year. Institutional endorsement is required. The FLAS Academic Year grants: Graduate students: tuition grant is $18,000 and the stipend is $20,000. Undergraduate students: tuition grant is $10,000 and the stipend is $5,000.
